Let me preface this by saying when it comes to my work technology, I am basic, no fancy CPU's, or expensive graphics cards (Though that stuff is way cool, don't get me wrong) I like to keep it simple. My checklist: long lasting, aesthetically pleasing, well working technology that can get the job done.

Apple Watch

I was initially attracted to the apple watch because of the added convenience of answering messages and being notified of the next stand up meeting right on my wrist...but now days the apple watch plays a pretty important (& unexpected) role in my life. Since quarantine, I have struggled with staying active and healthy. The watches health tracking functionality and ability to connect you with friends and family in a time when we're so unconnected has been essential in my survival.

Now, they dont sell the series 1 but dont worry just like my office, I plan to invest in a newer version soon. Im thinking series 6 🙃.

Ipad Pro

My iPad is kind of like my best technology friend (don't tell my iPhone) I use it to take care of my casual computing. When the iPad pro first released, I jumped at the thought of the larger display, substantial computing power and even more portability than the laptop due to the lighter weight. I was convinced it couldn't get better. When the newer model was released, I was proved wrong. The thinner bezels, smaller physical size and the magnetic pencil made the ipad an irreplaceable commodity in my backpack.

Laptop

Though my iphone is my everyday clutch, My 16" MacBook Pro is its right hand man. Its not the beefiest model but it carries a pretty heavy load supporting my tasks like designing, photo editing and light weight development.

Over the years I've gone back and forth between the loving the screen size and power of a desktop computer and the ultra-portableness of a laptop but finally found portable is an essential for me. And the power issue has become less and less of a problem with every apple keynote.

Monitor

When I do need to plug in to a larger display I use my Samsung 32-in 4K Curved Monitor

I havent had it too long, bought it in a crunch, but first impressions are good. I love the size, being able to have 3 windows side by side and not squished to heck is 👌. The displays color is pretty good once calibrated properly. Things are sharp and no lagging or latency.

Negatives i've noticed off the bat are the lack of ports. In retrospect, with my mac book, usbc would've been nice to have and one hdmi is not necessarily ideal. But for me none of those were deal breakers, grab a dongle or two and we're all set.

Keyboard & Mouse

Im a stickler for apple products and despite popular opinion, I dont hate their keyboards or the shallow keys. When im at my desk I still use my Apple Magic Keyboard in silver. Although, Im not quite crazy enough to love the Magic Mouse 😬so instead I opted for the Logitech MX Master 3, fits nicely in the palm, and most importantly the scroll wheel is to die for.

Desk

When it comes to my desk, I didn't invest a whole lot. Stopped at good ole Ikea and bought the Karlby butcherblock Top placed on a few metal saw horses. I wont even talk to you about the office chair, its not worth mentioning (Some may cringe at this but it worked for what I needed at the time #dontjudgeme)

However, since spending more and more time working from home, I think its time to beef things up a bit. So fret not, office remodel planning is underway. One thing I've for sure got my eye on is the VIVO Black Electric Stand up Desk Frame.

Gaming

I was reluctant to join the Nintendo Switch craze but after watching my friends plan lunch switch parties and being invited to game nights with no joy-cons of my own I caved. Currently I enjoy playing:

Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch

Mario Kart 8

Super Mario Odyssey

Overcooked! 2 - Nintendo Switch
